Tricking Out Your Flip Cam

Do you do video marketing for local businesses or want to but worry that showing up with a flip cam just isn’t going bring the credibility? Well, today’s HD Flip Cameras do a fantastic job and suit my needs just fine in most video work when it comes to live local business video shoots. Check out my rig for “tricking out the flip cam”.

I’ve provided links to my gear below just as examples (yep, they are affiliate links). If you want to do this shop around, you may find what you need cheaper or in a package deal.

Actually, mispoke in the video. The camera I recorded it with is the Play Touch below.

Thx Jack. This is what separates you from the Guru's who only think about selling the next product

without showing how much they care about there clients and I'm very glad I'm on your list because it very clear you do care my friend. Thanks again

That was pretty cool. I had a meeting this past Monday where a prospect asked why can't they go and get there own FlipCam and do it themselves and just send me the footage? This might just be a nice visual rebuttal for the future

Phew!

I agree with Carlos..Jack you are an endless form of information and a great teacher with the end user in mind, helping us get over our "what if's". I jumped on the video guru course knowing that I'm going to need it and its up there in the Jack's essential tool kit to do with being a local IM expert.

Keep it comming cos us sponges love to soak up this stuff !

Kodak has the PlayTouch on sale for $99 (new model coming out?) - but it is out-of-stock. Walmart has it for the same $99 at this link: http://www.walmart.com/ip//15118985

Jack - this video is just one more reason we Luv Ya!

ewunderDefintiley shop around before you hit buy on those links. Those are just what I have, not neccessarly the best deals. Stores like Walmart and Target may have some deals going as well.

ewunder The Kodaks are on sale and it appears that Kodak is preparing to go into Chapter 11 (aka 'Belly-up') . Their ad for the $99 cameras is here: http://store.kodak.com/store/ekconsus/en_US/list/Video_Cameras/categoryID.28889100

CNN also ran an article on their financial troubles here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203471004577140841495542810.html

We have a discussion on the topic on MXF called 'Kodak Video Cameras – Get 'em while you can' here: http://offlinexfactor.com/vip/forum/offline-x-factor/kodak-video-cameras-get-em-while-you-can/

I would expect these prices to drop even further like the Flip camera prices - from $175 down to ~$45 now, but these are certainly worth $100 to your business...

Where's the link to the actual camera? Come on, Jack! LOL, just kidding sir. Thanks so much for everything!!!

Do you know if the ZI 10 works with those accessories as well? Jack, hook up a link to the camera and I'll be buyin!

Good catch. Most of the attachments are standard for the majority of camera brands on the market. If it has a place to screw in a tripod, you are generally good to go.

One thing to think about before you buy the camera. Kodak is in a bit of a pinch right now financially. You may want to wait a week or so and see if these don't drop dramatically.

Jack Mize - Offline X Factor How the heck do you keep up with all this? Good to know for sure. Kodak in a pinch, huh? wow.

CarlosRosario Check out the reply to ewunder above for the link to the cameras...

Hi Jack I really like the Sunpack LED system which I need as lighting source & maybe some lapel mic too, question though Jack. What do you think about the build in mic on Cannon's VIXIA HF R20 or a lapel is needed as well? Just thinking out loud.

Darryl, that light pack does the trick in close up situations for sure. I have a cannon hd camcorder as well and the built in mic for most of these cameras do ok if you are wthin a few feet and no external noise.

But if you are shooting in a restaraunt with customers or staff talking or outdoors with cars passing etc I would go with a lapel mic as the default.
