Dynamic QR Codes Made Easy

You may have seen that some slick marketing folks have introduced the valuable concept
of “Dynamic QR Codes”. These are “magic” QR Codes that you can print once but go back and change the behavior or destination that mobile prospects are presented when scanned.

So you see the value? Instead of printing new marketing materials every time you change the QR Code offer, you can print once and simply change the offer.

So the quick and easy way to add a dynamic component to your qr code is to give it a static forwarding url. It costs you nothing, but adds tremendous value to the QR Code.

Check out this video and I’ll walk you through the value and process.

It’s that simple.  Create a QR Code Here

Put it into action and leave a comment.

Hello Jack & Everyone,

I would appreciate your help in visualizing the process. Here's what I'm understand. I set

up a .info at let's say godaddy. I create a QR code that points to mydomain.info (at

godaddy)

Now, let's say I have a restaurant owner who does 4 promotions/month. On this godaddy

re-direct site I create 4 pages, dessert/appetizer/drink/10%off.

When the first promotion goes out (at my godaddy re-direct site) it's set to go to the

dessert page. The next week I go into my account at godaddy and change the redirect

link to the appetizer page and so on and so on.....

Am I seeing the process correctly?

If not please fill in the blanks for me

My next question is this: rather than purchasing another domain could I not just as easily

set up a sub-direcror/folder on an existing site and have one folder for

restaurants/autobody/carpet cleaning .etc...etc...and have my specific induvidual

promotion pages in each folder and set up my redirects from within my cpanel??

Is that doable?

Thanks

Jack Mize - Offline X Factor and everyone else, if you don't want to use wordpress and a plugin, but have your own domain, you should be able to set up a domain URL like www.yourdomain.com/myclients-qrcode-address and then set it to forward to whatever address you want from the cpanel. Then, set the QR Code to link to www.yourdomain.com/myclients-qrcode-address. You can forward all day long. This is a down and dirty way of doing things. You won't get the reporting like on pretty link, unless you know how to use google analytics or other website analytics program.

Hi Jack,

Is there a way a QR Code can automatically sign someone up to an SMS list?

Greg Vinson 5 pts

rickmosca Hey Rick,

Not to preempt Jack, but I think I can give at least a partial answer: I found a WSO (Warrior Special Offer) which is QR software designed mainly to work with email lists, but the product creator says it will also work for text opt-ins.I don't think there's any way to auto-sign someone up, because they need to take at least one action to give you permission, but this comes close.

The thing I like is that it brings up, and prepopulates the opt-in form as soon as the person scans the code, so all they have to do is click to submit. I think it's about as automatic as you can get so far. I am not an affiliate, but I like it a lot. I hope I'm not stepping on Jack's toes if I post a link - if I am, Jack, I trust you will tell me and I'll remove it, or maybe you can just delete my comment. Anyway, here it is:

http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-special-offers...

Greg Vinson 5 pts

rickmosca I have to correct myself. Don Wilson has said he's going to add a text opt-in option, so I guess for now his software only creates an opt-in form for email, and I think it works with Aweber or Getresponse, and no other autoresponders.

tschell 5 pts

Greg Vinsonrickmosca Greg/Rick, Greg is correct in what the QRC software WSO will do. However, another that is probably better for what you want to do, Rick, IMHO, is Chad Wyatt's SMS Plugin. It'll give you lots of control and flexibility. I have it, and recommend you check it out FWIW...

Greg Vinsonrickmosca checked this wso out looks interesting, but seems to be a lot of grumbling on the forum about it, read a ton of the posts , but still on the fence with this one..

Greg Vinson 5 pts

mikeb1 I read most of the comments too, and I have to say, most of the negatives are the typical whiners, imo. The guy, Don Wilson, has an excellent reputation, and supports his products well, (it's the third product of his I've bought) but suit yourself. It might not be for you, but I'm just saying, the grumblers, are imo, morons, so I hope you don't let them concern you.

jcwaller 5 pts

Just a heads up in regard to the QR code for email list...Rather than investing in a WSO you can do it for free with this QR code generator and your aweber account. http://delivr.com/QR-Code-Generator. Choose email as code type and send the message to your aweber "listname"@aweber.com to add them to your list and deliver their coupon via autoresponse. Greg Vinson rickmosca

What I want to do is add them to a sms list, not email.

jcwaller 5 pts

If you use http://delivr.com/QR-Code-Generator and choose SMS to shortcode in combination with Jack's Mobile X Factor (or perhaps another Mobile pkg. but I use MXF) that would do what you want. Rick. rickmosca jcwaller Greg Vinson Jack Mize - Offline X Factor

Hi Jack, that is a really useful rundown on the technique and the questions from @maderemark and @morrismurphy have given some more food for thought on how to use these nifty little splodges. Many thanks for sharing the knowledge.

b2group 5 pts

This is great because it save time for you and the business owner. You can plan out all the specials in advance have all the creatives done and sitting on a domain wait for its turn to be special. Two minutes work for you and grate ROI for the customer. Works for resturants, retail stores, hobby shops, auto service centers, and it might be a great way to get some local grocery stores. Thanks Jack for another great tip

RickEllwood 5 pts

Thank you once again Jack, you are the man ! Have I understood this correct? that if the biz owner wants to run alternative offers week in and week out, they call me to change the offer or do I have to set up a post dated to fall inline with their offer?

I love the concepts of what can be done with QR codes and my new company will be using them to their fullest extent to do many different things. I know these can be used as a foot in the door or for also some very good residual income. I am listing all of the applications for QR codes in my new website. If I can even come close to listing them all. Thanks for some great insight into QR codes. This was an excellent video. Morris Murphy (Murph)

Greg Vinson 5 pts

MorrisMurphy I just recently created my first QR code, and would be quite interested in the list you are talking about putting on your site. I know they can be used to start a phone call, a text messaging opt-in, or go to a URL, but that's about the extent of my knowledge, and even those uses may have sophisticated nuances that I haven't thought of. I hope to get a chance to check it out soon.

SandyMorris 5 pts

Just an awesome way to vary qr code use. I immediately thought of REALTORS and their signs.

Thanks Jack for this... I am going to use it asap.

maderemark 5 pts

Your system seems like an extra step to me. If you're going to create a new offer each week/month/etc - why redirect to a new page when you can just change the offer on the page the QR code goes to? Am I missing something here?

MaggNet 5 pts

I think it may be because the offer may not have it's own page. It could be a text message sign-up form or another offer. Just my thought anyway. maderemark

Mike57 5 pts

At first glance that may be true however, businesses may want to run the SAME offer on more than one occasion, say 2x per month. By using a different page, they don't have to recreate the offer each time they want to run it. Point to the URL and off you go. maderemark

maderemark 5 pts

When I rotate offers, I just save each offer page with a different name: 06june.html, 07july.html. When I'm ready to change offers, I just save a copy of an already created offer with the name of the landing page the QR code directs to.

Jack Mize - Offline X Factor 7 pts moderator

maderemark Good point. You absolutely could skip the redirection step if you have control over the ultimate destination page such as switching out coupons etc...

I wanted to show it with a little more flexibility in case you destination was something you may not have complete control over.

For example a Real Estate agent that may have QR Codes printed on their signs that direct users to an mls listing. They wouldn't be using that same MLS listing page for the next house, so they would need to redirect to the new MLS listing.

There are a ton of different circumstances that may require more flexibility than changing the static page at the other end, but if you are dealing with a situation that allows it you can certainly skip that part.

maderemark 5 pts

Thanks for a solid example that makes sense to me. Excellent video Jack. Jack Mize - Offline X Factor maderemark

Loco Mojo 5 pts

Jack Mize - Offline X Factormaderemark Jack you are brilliant!. People do not understand the complete concept yet. Let me explain.. First 99% of QR codes are scanned with a MOBILE Device. These QR codes are saved on their mobile device. If you save as "joeshmo.com/weeklydeal" those mobile devices will always show the weekly deal as a "bookmarked QR code"! They can check the deals each week or month whenever they want.. The last point... if you have qr code saved on your mobile device, you can share with your friends, so the code becomes viral!

Great Lesson Jack!

Do I have to install a new WP theme or can I use my main marketing site? This tutorial is very timely as I have a restaurant client that wants a QR code. Just 2 days ago I was telling her that i could make a few of them for her various offers. This will be quite the time saver. TYVM

Jack Mize - Offline X Factor 7 pts moderator

MaggNet You have many options. You could setup Pretty Link on your site and point to offers on other sites. It all just depends on the level of control and ownership of the process you want.

cheryllynnintl 5 pts

Awesome video Jack! Yes, by using pretty link it is also a great way for SEO and backlinks especially if your are using it in an email campaign. I use them both for all my clients. Happy New Year!

I use dynamic QR Codes on the back of a marketing tool that also saves lives. Businesses love them.

billjoyce 5 pts

Interesting.Can you elaborate? PRO-FOUND

PRO-FOUND 5 pts

billjoycePRO-FOUND My pleasure, Bill. It's a multi-faceted marketing tool that any business can use in place of business cards. Purchase once and receive an on-going marketing platform--too many benefits to list here; it's all on my web site including a video that shows the life-saving features. A dynamic QR code is included on the back side to reflect changes in the special deals, offers and promotions offered by the business. Customers are adding them to their keychains, outerwear and sporting equipment. What I love about the QR Code feature is that when I create a sample for a prospect, I always make the QR code direct to their web site...and if their web site isn't optimized for mobile phones, I can pitch them on that after I develop the relationship.

Thank you Jack Mize, for giving me the tools that give my business purpose and direction.

Terry, I agree, the dynamic QR Code is a powerful door opener. I don't know what others will be charging for dynamic QR services, but for my marketing tool, the business pays one price for a quantity (minimum 100 for $159) and it includes all the marketing features going forward.

tschell 5 pts

PRO-FOUNDbilljoyce Stephanie, your site and services are Outstanding! Most Impressive, indeed. Your Keytag with the dynamic qrc is brilliant. It is this that you charge the $159 for 100 tags, yes? I am thinking of offering it as part of a marketing offering to biz owners as part of a larger sms program I have created, and have to think how much I might charge for this value-added component. Any suggestions are appreciated. Hope we can hook up one day soon..
